I showed Hayley how to make cinnamon and chocolate pinwheel scones today. Here’s what we made. What do you think?
Ingredients for scones
- 3 cups self-raising flour
- 1/2 t salt
- 50 g butter, diced
- 1 to 1 1/4 cup milk
Ingredients for filling
- 50 g butter, diced
- 1/3 cup brown sugar and 1 T cinnamon, mixed
- 3 rows of King Size dark chocolate, chopped
Method
- Place flour, salt, butter, and milk into food processor and mix until it forms a soft ball.
- On a floured surface, roll out the scone dough into a rectangle.
- Sprinkle the second lot of diced butter on top.
- Sprinkle the combined brown sugar and cinnamon on top.
- Sprinkle the chopped chocolate on top.
- Roll up from one of the long ends like a sponge roll.
- Cut into pieces about 1 to 1 1/2 cm wide.
- Place flat side onto a greased baking tray.
- Bake for 15 mins at 180 °C or until just golden.
- Remove from tray and cool on wire rack.

Alternatives:
- Add 1/2 cup sultanas or some grated apple.
